The first week of reading groups proved very successful. Please remember that Sport is now on Friday. We will commence rotating activities this week and would love some assistance.
This week we are continuing multiplication and division activities. We are beginning to look at time. Please remember to send a toy to school on your child’s news day to go along with our COGS unit. These toys will be investigated, photographed and then sent home. We will make a digital book to support our writing of Explanations.
I am really pushing the writing of simple sentences correctly. This will be done daily with explicit instructions. This is hoped to improve basic grammatical skills before moving onto more difficult sentences. I have linked to a grammar site of games.
The spelling program is now underway and the students are getting used to the routine of it all. Spelling homework will be sent home weekly.

Welcome to Term 2. I hope that everyone has had a fun filled holiday and is ready for some more great learning to come. Term 2 is already looking busy. We have our excursion to the Science Centre in Woolongong, we are doing some great hands on technology work in COGS (Parent helpers needed!). We start our performances for the annual school PAF night and of course, school reports!!
Remember to keep checking here for some fun homework and extension ideas. I do like to receive feedback so let me know what else I can do to make this site valuable to you at home.
In maths this term, we will review addition and subtraction and get moving with multiplication and division. This can be tricky so I will get started with finding interesting, interactive ways to support our children.
Keep a look out for information on a maths course for parents I will be running this term. It will show you how we teach the students key ideas. As you know, things have changed!!!
I look forward to an awesome term.

Phew - a few days later and the Groom house is feeling a whole lot better. Back to full steam ahead on Monday. I can’t wait to go through all the volunteers names to assist in the classroom.
We are looking at measuring length at the moment. I have linked to a cool site for you!
Enjoy

Literacy groups will be running from 10am till 11am Tuesday to Friday. I am hoping to enlist the skills of mums, dads or grandparents to assist at this time. If you can assist at any of these times on a regular basis, let me know. We will need assistance for sport on Thursday mornings too.
Book covers are underway. I hope to have them finished by Friday. If they are, they will come home on the weekend to be covered in clear plastic. Please add it to your shopping list this week.
The children are enjoying Jo and are keen to have their turn taking him home. Please encourage the kids to write about their adventures with him.
Bye for now
Remember to add a comment to the site - Thanks Mrs Duncan! Let me know what you would like to see on this site!

This is my attempt to move into the 21st century in terms of digital technology. I anticipate that this blog will allow parents to keep track of what is happening in the classroom. Anything that we are doing, upcoming events, homework and tips on how to help your child.
You can contact me via this blog, or directly through the school. I have an open classroom policy and encourage all parents or carers to know that they are welcome to come in and assist me and your student in the classroom.
